2014 Chevrolet Impala Receives Five-Star Safety Score

Redesigned flagship sedan also offers Corry-area drivers safety firsts for Chevrolet

2014 Impala

The 2014 Chevrolet Impala has received the highest possible five-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety as part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s New Car Assessment Program.

“Safety is a big concern for Corry-area car buyers,” said John Crotty of Crotty Chevrolet Buick. “The new Impala is designed with quite a few new safety technologies, to provide excellent crash safety.”

The redesigned, full-size sedan presents Corry-area drivers with one of the most comprehensive collections of standard and available safety features in the segment. It employs advanced technologies – including radar – to help avoid crashes. Visual and audible alerts, depending on the alert feature, help Corry-area drivers identify potential crash situations and even intervene when a crash threat appears more imminent. The alerts are designed to identify potential threats with sufficient warning to give the driver time to react and make changes.

2014 Buick Lineup Offers Active Safety Suite

Advanced safety technologies available on all five Buick models

Every 2014 Buick model – Verano, Regal, LaCrosse, Encore and Enclave – will be offered with a suite of available active safety systems that watch the front, side and rear of the vehicle to help prevent crashes.

Buick will be the only brand in the industry to offer Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Side Blind Zone Warning, and a Rear Vision Camera on every vehicle.

Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning are a pair of technologies that use a single forward-looking camera to read traffic and lane markers on the road ahead. Visual warnings and audible tones alert the driver to unsignaled lane changes or a slowed vehicle.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Side Blind Zone Warning use radar to watch spots the driver may not see – and provide visible and audible warnings to help prevent collisions.

When the vehicle is in reverse and the Rear Vision Camera is active, Rear Cross Traffic Alert will flash a red icon and directional arrow if another vehicle is approaching from either side, which is especially useful backing out of a tight driveway or parking space in a busy lot.

Active Safety a Common Element in Expanding Buick Brand

2013 Verano and Encore feature 10 air bags, advanced active safety

In addition to the redesigned Enclave luxury crossover SUV, arriving at Crotty Chevrolet Buick this fall, Buick’s lineup will continue to expand in the coming year with two all-new models – the 250-horsepower (187 kW) Verano Turbo luxury sedan and the versatile Encore luxury crossover. No matter the size, safety is a cornerstone of every new Buick.

Both Verano and Encore offer Corry, Erie, Warren and Jamestown area drivers 10 standard air bags and body structures that consist of more than 60 percent high-strength steel. In the 2013 model year, each model also receives new active safety systems. Unlike passive safety features – such as safety belts and air bags – that are designed to protect occupants when a crash occurs, active safety systems use sounds, visual warnings and automated actions to help prevent crashes.
