Get a Grip No Matter What the Weather

2014 Buick Regal GS AWD

2014 Buick Regal offers all-weather all-wheel-drive

Along with the technology, safety, and styling enhancements offered on the redesigned Buick Regal and Regal GS, is the newly available advanced all-wheel-drive.

“Living in the Snowbelt, Corry, Erie, Warren and Jamestown, NY drivers, associate all-wheel-drive vehicles with wintery weather, the Regal’s on-demand automatic AWD system is designed to help provide better control in all weather and road conditions, including dry surfaces” said Robert Crotty of Crotty Chevrolet Buick.

Using a system that can distribute power both front to rear and side to side, the Regal is able to shift torque to the wheels based on vehicle data and driver input. When trekking through snow and icy conditions better control is achieved through improved traction and stability with drive to all four wheels.

Buick and Crotty Chevrolet Buick Celebrate Four Decades of Regal

The addition of the Regal nameplate to the Buick family goes back more than 40 years, but even today, the Regal’s heritage as a sporty, mid-size luxury vehicle is strong as ever in Northwestern Pennsylvania.

Introduced in 1973, the Century Regal, as it was originally called, served as an upmarket model in the Century line and one of GM’s first “personal luxury” cars. Designed with sporty suspension characteristics and luxuries aimed primarily at the driver, the ‘73 Regal coupe sold   91,557 units helping Buick surpass its 1955 all-time sales record.

Launched with a standard 350 cu. in. V-8 engine, the Regal would soon carve a niche as a powertrain innovator. Among one of the first to react to the initial Arab oil embargo, the 1975 Buick Regal was the only mid-size vehicle in the United States to forego a standard V-8 engine in favor of a V-6.

“For the past 40 years, the Regal has been a huge part of the American culture,” said Robert Crotty of Crotty Chevrolet Buick. “Corry, Erie and Warren-area drivers are going to love the 2014 model, which delivers Buick’s signature quiet and well-crafted luxury in a new and unexpected package.”

Just a few years later, beginning with the 1978 Regal, Buick would lead a vanguard on turbocharging for better fuel economy. This expertise would later be used in creating Regals that would be recognized as some of the most powerful and significant cars of the 1980s.

Buick Ambient Lighting Warms Cabins with Cool Tech

Technology introduced on LaCrosse evolves with Enclave debut this fall

Buick LaCrosse Blue Lit Cabin

Ambient interior lighting, which uses discreet LED light guides to accent interior design cues and set a mood in a vehicle’s cabin, is increasingly popular. Buick has been a trend-setter in this space since the LaCrosse luxury sedan introduced the technology to its segment in 2009.

“Every 2013 Buick features discreet Ice Blue lighting to set a comforting cabin mood. In vehicles like the Verano luxury sedan and the Regal luxury sport sedan, lighting comes from hidden sources in the vehicle headliner” said Robert Crotty VP of Crotty Chevrolet Buick in Corry, PA. “In the LaCrosse and the redesigned 2013 Enclave luxury crossover SUV, the lighting is more dramatic with a soft line of light illuminating the sculpted edge of the wrap-around dash.”

Like the Enclave’s Nuance leather upholstery, which is similar to materials used for high-end home furniture, Buick ambient lighting finds its inspiration from home interior design.

“If you look in a modern, high-end home at night, the major light sources like TVs are complemented by soft, evenly distributed interior lighting,” said Chris Fusco, interior experience manager for Buick Design. “Likewise, we’re creating a warm, inviting driving experience at Buick by tying the bright output of gauges and our IntelliLink connectivity touchscreens together with soft, Ice Blue lighting spilling out from hidden sources.

“As in-car displays grow in number and detail, the harmonizing role of ambient lighting will grow more important,” said Fusco. “Large display screens really stand out in a cabin, especially at night, so adding additional light sources creates a balanced, more luxurious cabin.”

2013 Buick Regal Gives Customers the Power of Choice

2013 Buick Regal

The 2013 Buick Regal luxury sport sedan coming to Crotty Chevrolet Buick this fall will offer a standard advanced eAssist powertrain and 36 highway mpg. In addition two powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engines give Regal one of the most technologically advanced engine ranges in the brand’s history.

The Buick Regal sedan delivers a premium, sporty driving experience while still achieving an estimated 36 mpg on the highway (with eAssist light electrification technology). It’s also a turbocharged performance touring sedan with power that is responsive yet responsible.

Three propulsion choices balance efficiency and performance in the 2013 Regal lineup:

  • Regal with eAssist light electrification technology, which delivers EPA-estimated 25 mpg city and 36 mpg highway. The Ecotec 2.4L engine with eAssist is the entry powertrain on Regal 1SL, 1SN and 1SP trim levels.
  • Regal with Ecotec 2.0L Turbo, which takes on competitors such as the Acura TSX, Volvo S60 and Volkswagen CC. The Regal Turbo makes 220 horsepower (164 kW). It is available at no additional charge on 1SN and 1SP trim levels and is standard on 1SR.
  • Regal GS, a responsive, high-output turbo performance touring sedan with 270 horsepower (201 kW), 295 lb.-ft. (400 Nm) of torque and standard Interactive Drive Control System. (Please see separate Regal GS release for more details.)

“The eAssist system has three main advantages,” said Robert Crotty, VP for Crotty Chevrolet Buick. “Its stop/start functionality, which turns the engine off when the vehicle is at rest; regenerative braking that gathers and stores energy that would otherwise be lost during braking, and an electric motor assist that reduces the gas engine’s work during acceleration or on inclines.”

It takes advantage of the best parts of a hybrid, and eAssist is now standard equipment for Regal. These new functions happen seamlessly, a requirement for Corry, Warren, Erie and Jamestown area Buick drivers who demand a refined driving experience. They’ll really only notice a difference at the pump.

Corry, Erie, Warren and Jamestown area drivers interested in more acceleration can choose from a no-cost option of a 220-horsepower, 2.0L turbocharged Ecotec engine or the 270-hp Regal GS, both with variable valve timing and direct injection. In addition to one of the most power-dense engines ever certified by the Society of Automotive Engineers, the GS offers high-performance Brembo brakes, HiPer strut suspension technology and unique design cues inside and out.

Regal is available in five trim levels, including GS. They are: Regal (1SL), Premium I (1SN), Premium II (1SP), Premium III (1SR) and GS (1SX).

Buick’s HiPer Strut system is an example of the best-of-both-worlds approach. Ideal suspension geometry is maintained, reducing torque steer and improving camber control.
