With Daylight Saving Time ending this Sunday, many Corry, Warren and Erie-area residents will drive in the dark more often. For those uneasy with night driving, the 2014 Chevrolet Impala can help brighten the task.

The enhanced visibility provided by Impala’s headlamps can help Corry, Warren and Erie-area drivers avoid crashes after dark, the riskiest time of day. According to a study cited by the Federal Highway Administration, the risk of a fatality at night among drivers not impaired by alcohol is more than two times higher than in daytime due to less visibility.

According to a 2009 study conducted by the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, high-intensity discharge, or HID, headlamps like those on the new Impala can help drivers see objects in the road sooner than other types of headlamps, allowing for greater stopping distance.

2014 Chevrolet Impala Receives Five-Star Safety Score

Redesigned flagship sedan also offers Corry-area drivers safety firsts for Chevrolet

2014 Impala

The 2014 Chevrolet Impala has received the highest possible five-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety as part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s New Car Assessment Program.

“Safety is a big concern for Corry-area car buyers,” said John Crotty of Crotty Chevrolet Buick. “The new Impala is designed with quite a few new safety technologies, to provide excellent crash safety.”

The redesigned, full-size sedan presents Corry-area drivers with one of the most comprehensive collections of standard and available safety features in the segment. It employs advanced technologies – including radar – to help avoid crashes. Visual and audible alerts, depending on the alert feature, help Corry-area drivers identify potential crash situations and even intervene when a crash threat appears more imminent. The alerts are designed to identify potential threats with sufficient warning to give the driver time to react and make changes.

Corry, Erie, Edinboro, and Warren area drivers of the new 2014 Chevrolet Impala will enjoy sweet sound and sweeter savings at the pump thanks to precision noise reduction and a new advanced valve train technology on the Ecotec 2.5L four-cylinder engine, arriving at Crotty Chevrolet Buick this month.

Lock It Up: 2014 Chevrolet Impala Offers Secure Info Storage

Redesigned flagship sedan offers hidden compartment behind PIN-activated faceplate

Anyone who has ever felt trepidation about handing their car keys to a valet will appreciate the 2014 Chevrolet Impala. The redesigned flagship sedan offers a “valet mode” that lets someone unknown take the wheel but shields personal items and information from prying eyes.

The new Impala’s available 8-inch center stack display is an interactive touch screen for the next-generation Chevrolet MyLink system but doubles as a PIN-activated retractable faceplate over a secure storage bin large enough to hold valuables like a wallet, MP3 player and smartphone. Addresses and contacts stored on MyLink also remain PIN-protected.

“Valet mode is the kind of feature that Impala customers will appreciate,” said John Crotty of Crotty Chevrolet Buick in Corry, PA. “It is one of many great new features on our newest MyLink and a small part of Impala’s overall technology package.”

Next-Gen MyLink System Debuts in 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Industry-first technologies provide intuitive, customizable driver experience

When the 2014 Chevrolet Impala goes on sale next spring at Crotty Chevrolet Buick in Corry, PA., it will do much more than reinvent the brand’s flagship sedan. It will be the first with Chevrolet’s next-generation MyLink infotainment system, designed to be easy to use, highly customizable and capable of linking up to 10 devices.

The system represents Chevrolet’s first use of natural language voice recognition that allows customers to safely place calls, enter destinations, browse media, play music and control other functions simply by telling the vehicle what to do. There are no key phrases to remember and no need to look at a screen. In addition to the touch screen, MyLink also can be operated via large, clearly labeled knobs or through integrated steering wheel controls.

Another first for Chevrolet is that the system can store up to 60 favorites including radio stations (AM/FM/XM), contacts, destinations, music and other media – a convenient feature, for example, for those who travel to the same destination regularly and want to save locations such as hotels and restaurants.

2014 Impala Engine Gets a High-Tech Lift

New computer-controlled valvetrain technology improves fuel efficiency

2014 Chevrolet Impala Intake Valve Lift Control

Drivers of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala coming early next year to Crotty Chevrolet Buick in Corry, PA. can get improved fuel economy over the competition due in part to a new advanced valvetrain technology on the Ecotec 2.5L four-cylinder engine.

Chevrolet’s redesigned flagship sedan uses new Intake Valve Lift Control (IVLC) technology that enables variable intake valve lift, duration and timing over a wide range of engine operation. When the technology operates in low-lift mode, the engine pumps only the air it needs to meet the driver’s demand. The system switches to high-lift mode at higher speeds or under heavy loads, providing the full output capability of the engine.

“Intake Valve Lift Control works so seamlessly drivers aren’t likely to notice it at all,” said Mike Anderson, GM global chief engineer for Ecotec engines. “What they will notice is a fuel savings of up to one mile per gallon.”
