2016 Chevrolet Malibu Offers a Sleeker Design for Chevrolet Customers

Corry, PA August 31st, 2016The Chevrolet Malibu is an enduring classic that helped launch the midsize sedan segment more than 50 years ago. It drives into the future with an all-new 2016 model engineered to offer Tri-County Chevy Owners-drivers more efficiency, connectivity and advanced safety features than ever – all with a brand-new, progressive design.

“The all-new Malibu offers a sophisticated and functional design that will appeal to returning and new customers alike,” said Shane Crotty, Sales and Leasing Consultant of Crotty Chevrolet Buick. “Now longer, lighter and leaner, it carries on Chevrolet’s signature style cues.”

The new Malibu’s wheelbase stretches 3.6 inches (91 mm) longer than its predecessor and it is 2.3 inches (58 mm) longer, with the same overall width – dimensions that contribute to a sleeker-looking proportion. The longer wheelbase also helps provide better in-cabin comfort and functionality.

The hood and the cowl – the area where the windshield meets the hood – are lower and contribute to the Malibu’s greater aerodynamic performance, as do active grille shutters on LS and LT models.

Premium design cues, with contemporary lighting technology, are incorporated on all models, including light-emitting diode (LED) daytime running lamps on LT and Premier models. The Malibu Premier also receives LED taillamps.cq5dam.web.1280.1280 (19)

Beneath the new Malibu’s athletic-looking skin is a stronger, lighter body structure that contributes to its efficiency and driving dynamics. Greater use of high-strength steels enabled engineers to design the body structure with thinner components in some areas, delivering comparable crash performance with lower weight. In fact, the body structure accounts for more than one-third of the Malibu’s nearly 300-pound weight reduction.

The longer wheelbase allows a more open execution of Chevrolet’s signature dual-cockpit interior. Rear legroom improves by 1.3 inches (33 mm).cq5dam.web.1280.1280 (20)

The cabin’s open, expansive feel is reinforced with a greater emphasis on comfort, convenience and connectivity, allowing the Malibu to keep pace with Crotty Chevrolet Buick customers’ connected lives.

The instrument panel “center stack” is all-new, with greater delineation between the infotainment system and climate system controls for easier, at-a-glance operation.

  • Galvano (satin) chrome accents on the instrument panel and center console
  • A storage slot for mobile phones incorporates wireless charging, if equipped
  • Perforated leather-appointed seating surfaces available on LT and Hybrid; and standard on Premier
  • Ventilated seats – a first for Malibu – are standard on Premier.

Chevrolet Donates 50 Trucks to Red Cross for Storm Relief

Brand sends full-size pickups and vans to sites hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy

 Chevrolet and Red Cross

DETROIT – Chevrolet today donated 50 Silverado full-size pickup trucks and Express cargo vans to the American Red Cross for use in relief and recovery efforts following Hurricane Sandy and other storms buffeting the Eastern seaboard and nearby states.

“It is during disasters like this that we all need to pull together as a country and Chevrolet has a role in that,” said General Motors Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson. “Making these vehicles available quickly where they can do the most good is something we can do right now.”

GM’s OnStar subsidiary is also supporting the initiative by providing each of the donated vehicles with 300 OnStar Hands-Free Calling minutes of hands-free cellular and three months of its Directions and Connections plan which includes turn-by-turn navigation services. service available via Advisor or by download. The trucks are being pulled from existing inventory at dealerships closest to where they are needed.

In addition to the vehicle donation, the GM Foundation earlier donated $250,000 to the Red Cross Disaster Responder Program, which enables the agency to be ready to provide immediate disaster relief anywhere in the country.  The money is used to shelter, feed and meet emotional needs of disaster victims. The money also helps feed emergency workers, handle inquiries from concerned family members outside the disaster area, provide blood and blood products and help disaster victims access other available resources.

Corvette Featured Marque at 2013 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion

Corvette Racing, American Le Mans Series, Laguna Seca, April 20, 2010, Corvette celebrates 50 years at Le Mans, 2010 #4 C6.R GT2, 2011 VIN 001 GM Design Special Anniversary Z06, 1960 #2 Le Mans competitor, 1969 #49 Le Mans competitor (raced at Le Mans in 1973), and 1967 #9 Le Mans competitor (Richard Prince/GM Racing Photo).

Chevrolet Corvette will be the featured marque next August at the 2013 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, where historic race cars annually come to the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca track to relive the sights, sounds and smells of racing days gone by.

Corvette’s recognition in Monterey, Calif., will come during its 60th anniversary model year, and a large contingent of Corvette racers is expected representing each of the car’s six generations in competition. Corvette also was the featured marque in 2002.

“Corvettes and racing have been inextricably linked since the very moment Zora Arkus-Duntov slipped behind the wheel for the first time,” said Chris Perry, Chevrolet global vice president of marketing. “His spirit is felt in today’s winning Corvette Racing program, which continues a proud legacy and one we’re looking forward to celebrating next summer.”

The Corvette’s racing heritage began in 1956, when a trio of Corvettes engineered under the Duntov’s direction, competed in the 12-hour Sebring endurance racing. By 1960, Corvette was racing at Le Mans – and in its first year at the French 24-hour classic, drivers John Fitch and Bob Grossman drove their Briggs Cunningham-prepared car to a first-place finish in the GT class.

“We look forward to working closely with the Corvette team on making next year’s celebration a monumental one for Corvette racers, owners and automobile enthusiasts,” said Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “The Monterey Peninsula will rumble to life with Corvettes of every era.”

Corvette Racing has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans seven times, most recently in 2011 when the team edged out Ferrari.

Corvette has a winning history at Laguna Seca, too, including a one-two sweep of the six-hour American Le Mans Monterey race earlier this season.

Buttoning Up: OnStar Gets New Look in 2013 Models

Buttons Sport Redesign; Camaro Gets New Frameless Mirror

2013 Onstar New Look

With all the new features inside 2013 Chevrolet and Buick models, new OnStar buttons may not be the first thing drivers notice. However, the first OnStar redesign of what customers have seen in years will reflect more than just new logos.

“While the new buttons are cool, it’s what’s behind the button that is most impressive,” said Robert Crotty VP of Crotty Chevrolet Buick in Corry, PA. “The buttons were changed for a few different reasons, but one was to better reflect the software updates that have gone into this current generation of OnStar.”

Rare, Historic Cadillacs on Display at Pebble Beach

 Custom ‘none-of-a-kind’ Fleetwood V-16s from 1930s featured Aug.16-19

A pair of one-of-a-kind Cadillac Fleetwood V-16s that were available but never ordered by customers during the Great Depression will be among the cars on display at the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Carmel, Calif., this week.

Cadillac’s exhibit, open to the public Aug. 16-19 at Peter Hay Hill, features Cadillac’s newest cars, along with the two custom-built Fleetwood Convertibles from 1934 and 1937. Each has a historically significant pedigree.

A 1934 rumbleseat roadster model 5802 and a 1937 Phaeton model 5859 were part of Cadillac’s made-to-order Fleetwood collection, featured in the “build books” that customers used to select options for their cars. All other body styles were built for customers, but these two lavish models went unselected.

Decades later, noted automobile restorer and coachbuilder Fran Roxas built the Phaeton 5859 and Roadster 5802 from scratch, relying only on the original blueprints of Cadillac designer John Hampshire. Both have won best-in-class awards at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

GM Achieves its Best-Ever Initial Quality Score

All brands earn a segment award in J.D. Power Initial Quality Study

Each of General Motors’ four U.S. brands earned a segment award in the 2012 J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality StudySM, helping GM to its best-ever company score compared to the industry average in the 26-year history of the widely watched third-party quality measure.

GM has nine vehicles either receiving a segment award or placing in the top three of their respective segments. As a company, GM outscored the industry average.

For the first time, GM occupies the top three spots in the highly competitive Large Pickup Segment with the GMC Sierra LD, and Chevrolet Silverado HD and Avalanche, finishing one-two-three respectively.

“Clearly this is very significant for General Motors and our dealership” said John Crotty owner of Crotty Chevrolet Buick. “It attests to all the hard work and improvements that GM has made recently. To have the Chevrolet Malibu ranked as the top ranked mid-size car, the Chevrolet Silverado and Avalanche in the top three in the large pickup segment, and the Buick Enclave as the highest ranked midsize crossover/SUV segment is quite an accomplishment.
